Code Enforcement

Code Enforcement is a function of the Community Development Department focused, primarily, on Section 92 (Nuisances) and 150 (Zoning Code) of the Swanton Village Codified Ordinances. Nuisance complaints include, but are not limited to, tall grass, trash, refuse, and other debris in yards, as well as unsafe structures. If you wish to file a complaint or speak to someone about any alleged violation, please contact the Village Administrator at 419.826.9515.

Regularly Scheduled Meetings:

  • Fulton County Senior Center, Swanton location: Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 9 a.m.–2 p.m.
  • Rotary Club of Swanton: Thursdays at noon
  • Lions Club of Swanton:  2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 6:15 p.m.

Planning and Zoning

Planning and Zoning is a function of the Community Development Department. The Village Administrator also acts as the Zoning Inspector and oversees all of the planning and zoning related matters that occur within the Village of Swanton.  This includes issuing zoning certificates, enforcing the zoning code, and providing informational assistance to the Planning Commission and Committee of Zoning Appeals. A Zoning Permit is required for construction, enlargement, or renovation of structures including but not limited to a garage, shed, deck, or pool. Refer to the Zoning Code for all structures requiring a permit.
