This is an intent to inform the public regarding past, current and future road projects since July of 2022:
Combined Sewer Separation Project 8 & 9: Entered into the Engineer Agreement in April of 2020. Construction concluded in July of 2022. Streets impacted were Mettabrook, W. Garfield, Allen, West and Sanderson. Cost: Grant/Loan funding through Ohio Environmental Protection Agency & Ohio Water Pollution Control Loan Fund, 2.4 Million. Local Share (Village) $766,880.00.
Combined Sewer Separation Project 3, 11 & 12: Entered into the Engineer Agreement in January of 2022. Construction is set to begin Mid November of 2023 and concluded before November of 2024. Streets impacted are Brookside, St. Richards Court, Hickory, Maple, Birch, Oak, Elm, Hallett, Airport Highway, Forrester, S. Main Street. Cost: Grant/Loan funding through Ohio Environmental Protection Agency & Ohio Water Pollution Control Loan Fund, 3.8 Million, Local Share from the Village Water Resource Recovery Facility Slated Funds $220,000.
Airport Highway Improvement: Entered into the Engineer Agreement in April of 2022. Scope of the project is to improvement traffic safety at the corner of Airport & Hallett, Airport & Main Street. This includes changes in signals at both intersections to allow for ease of Left Hand turns off Airport. Also includes morning the merging lane that is currently West of Main Street to the East side of Main Street on Airport Highway. Currently under design with Engineer. Construction to begin early 2026. Cost: ODOT Abbreviated Safety Fund: $309, 900.00, Local Share (Village) $75,540.00.
Hallett Phase A: Entered into the Engineer Agreement in June of 2022. Scope of project starts at Airport and goes North to Chestnut Street. Engineering is set to wrap up in December of 2023. Construction projected to begin in June of 2024. This includes resurfacing, curbs/approaches, extension of sidewalks with a retention wall. Cost: Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments Surface Transportation Block Grant $448,000, Local Share (Village) $399,000.
Hallett Phase B: Entered into the Engineer Agreement in August of 2023. Scope of project starts at Church and goes North to the Turnpike Bridge. Engineering is projected to wrap up in August of 2025. Construction projected to begin in June of 2026. This includes resurfacing, curbs/approaches, extension of sidewalks. Cost: Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments Surface Transportation Block Grant $408,320 Local Share (Village) $160,080.00
Munson Road: Entered into Engineering Agreement in August of 2023. Scope of Project is Resurfacing and potential Sewer Extension. Engineering is set to wrap up the end January of 2024. Construction is projected to begin in April of 2024. Cost: Ohio Public Works Commission $175,000 Grant, $87, 500 Loan, Local Share (Village) $433,500.00.
Crestwood: Submitted to Ohio Public Works Commission in September of 2023. Project Awarding will not be known until Spring of 2024.
East Garfield: Next in line for improvements for the 2024 Ohio Public Works Commission submission. Estimated Local Share (Village) Cost $533,500.00
Unfortunately, we cannot go and pave roads as easily as everyone would like us to. It takes a lot of funding, planning, and timing. After this last Combined Sewer Separation (3, 11 & 12) it will become easier to fund road surfacing projects; however, many of these loans that we have had to take out over the course of the past 10-20 years are either still being paid on or we will be done paying on them within the next 5-10 years.
